Dear Friend,
Over the years, there are many instances of children dying from hunger, starvation, disease and malnutrition. Almost half of the world-over 3 billion people-live on less than $2.50 a day. The silent killers are poverty, hunger, easily preventable diseases and illnesses, and other related causes. Despite the scale of this daily holocaust, it rarely manages to achieve, much less sustain, primetime, headline coverage.
We imagine many expect us to have personal experiences with poverty that inspired our own involvement in combating it and its effects. We have none. However, when watching a documentary, we realized how close this issue is to all of us, how it affects not only our family and friends, but also how it affects others.
Poverty does happen to anyone, regardless of age, race, religion. We need to honestly and willingly attend to this pressing issue that kills a child every 3 seconds. Together we can make a difference.
Yours, Poverty At Large
